Rafael Nadal Debuts a NEW Richard Mille Watch at Roland Garros
During his first-round match, the 22-time Grand Slam winner wore the final entry into the RM 27 series, the newly released RM 27-05.
This may (hopefully not) have been Nadal’s final appearance at Roland Garros but it was the first appearance for Richard Mille’s newest creation of their RM 27 model. A watch that since 2010, has graced the wrist of the 22-time Grand Slam winner at the highest stages of tennis.
The RM 27-05 Flying Tourbillon Rafael Nadal, is the latest watch from Richard Mille’s 14-year relationship with Nadal. It was seen briefly on the wrist of the 14-time French Open Champion where he was unfortunately eliminated in the first round against Alexander Zverev who prevailed 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. The RM 27-05 builds upon the legacy of the RM 027 adding more advanced features like: weighing just 11.5 grams (excluding the strap) making it the lightest hand-wound tourbillon watch ever made and is able to withstand g-forces up to 14,000. I’m not sure what activities you may be doing that require such g-force but.. at least keeping accurate time will be the last of your worries in that scenario. Richard Mille built the case from Carbon TPT B.4, an advanced material making it denser, stiffer and 30% stronger than equivalent carbon composites used in its earlier watches.
Though it’s not the most legible design (like most RM’s as we all know) the appreciation for such a timepiece can be found in it’s lightweight design and advanced engineering. Also being worn by one of my favorite tennis players of all time certainly helps make me love & appreciate this watch even more. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this RM 27-05 worn by the 22-time Grand Slam Champion in more Grand Slams ahead. VAMOS RAFA !!
